A quick overview of some of the basic rules of gameplay
WHO SERVES FIRST?
- Have to decide who chooses first (serve or side decision)
- Options are to serve or not OR choose a side > so IF my team chooses a side, the opposing team chooses to serve or defend
- How to decide > you can spin the paddle to decide > you can say “your choice” if you have no preference
- Most tournaments are done by choosing a number 1 or 2 > behind the back of a REF or player
- Most tournaments put the number on the back of the scoresheet so you ask then
WHEN TO SWITCH SIDES
- if it is a single game: switch sides at 6 for a game to 11 and at 8 for a game to 15
- if it is a best of 3 series:
- game 1 > stay on your sides for the entire game
- game 2 > switch sides for the entire game
- IF game 3 required > switch sides to original starting point and change at 6 if playing 11 OR at 8 if playing to 15
